Posed Newborn Photos & Family Photos In One Session

Intentional and At Home | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

The In-Home Newborn Photography Experience

As a mother who knows both the magic and the mess of bringing home a new baby, I’ve crafted an In-Home Newborn Experience that fits right into the middle of it.

This experience is designed to remove pressure, decision fatigue and rushing — so you can actually be present with your baby and your family. Every step is intentional, built to help me show up well for you and your people.

At the end, you receive studio-quality, softly posed newborn portraits alongside lifestyle family images — thoughtfully curated for your family and for your home, because these photographs are meant to live in albums and on your walls.

But more than that, you get to move gently through your newborn photography journey knowing it was built by a mother just like you, with care, experience and deep respect for this season.

Choosing an in-home newborn session doesn’t mean giving up posed newborn portraits or family photographs — and it doesn’t mean settling for “whatever your house allows.” This is where my unique approach really shines.

For each session, I bring the craft of a studio into your home: professional lighting, curated newborn styling, layered backdrops and fabrics, flooring and a posing table for safe, naturally posed newborn images. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and intentionally transported so we’re equipped to create a complete newborn experience right where your life is unfolding.

Preparing For Your In-Home Newborn Session

Before your session, we talk through your space and your preferences so your baby’s sets feel cohesive and considered — and so the images we create feel at home on your walls long after this season has passed.

It’s a lot to bring. And that’s the point.

This level of preparation allows the session to move gently and flexibly. We can pause for feedings, soothe when needed and follow your baby’s cues without watching the clock. It also allows us to create both softly posed newborn portraits and lifestyle family photographs — all within one calm, baby-led session.

Take a Peek Behind the Scenes

This is what calm, safe and intentional in-home newborn photography in Atlanta looks like.

My family had an amazing experience with Jess for our newborn photos! She works wonders with newborns! We just handed our little bundle over to her with a bottle and she was amazing at dressing, positioning and soothing for some amazing photos, right in our home! Shes very professional and knows how to manage and care for newborns! It was a very calm, stress free and non-rushed morning! She comes with all the props and outfits/swaddles which was one less thing for us to do! We have a 2.5yr old boy as well and was able to capture amazing family moments! .. also knows her way around cooperating with a toddler for great natural laughs and smiles!

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to book my newborn session?

I always tell parents, the earlier the better. Because I’m intentionally low volume and we’ll reserve your time based on your due date, I only take a limited number of newborns each month. This means if you reach out two weeks before baby is due, it’s unlikely I’ll be able to accommodate.

This also guarantees I can be flexible if baby comes early or late. And, this gives us time to look at your space together, plan the style of your session, talk about what’s really important to you.

I can tell you as a mama and seasoned newborn photographer, getting these things ironed out before your last couple weeks of pregnancy will feel SO good!

I will send out a detailed session guide a few weeks before your due date that has tips for dressing mom and the whole family.

Because I have such an extensive styling inventory for baby, you really don’t need to worry about dressing your newborn unless you have an outfit that is particularly meaningful. I’ll bring all the wraps, swaddles, accessories and outfits we’ll need on the day of your session.

I’ve also written a blog post about what to wear for a newborn session if you’re up for a little extra reading.  You can find it linked HERE

Once baby arrives, we find a date and time that works, ideally within the first three weeks (my sweet spot seems to be babies around eight days old!)

I book newborn sessions on weekday mornings starting between 9:30 and 10:30, and I ask families to allot at least three hours of time to ensure we aren’t rushed if your baby needs extra soothing or feeding.

Not commonly. Weekend sessions are reserved for special circumstances when a family truly has no other option.

Because newborn sessions are booked well in advance based on your due date, most families have plenty of time to plan around a weekday morning — much like scheduling a doctor’s appointment or school event. We can also begin with family and sibling portraits first so little ones can return to their day while we focus on baby.

Here’s the honest truth: over the years I’ve missed a lot of time with my own children while building a business that supports my family and serves my community. As my kids grow, protecting that time has become deeply important to me.

Creating a schedule with intention allows me to give your family my full heart and attention — without taking that time away from my own.

When I arrive, the first 15–20 minutes are spent assessing the space and setting up. I bring professional equipment and thoughtfully use areas of your home to create a small studio setup — including lighting, a posing surface and 2–3 styled newborn sets.

From there, we follow the natural rhythm of your family.

If siblings are involved, we usually begin with family and sibling portraits so big brother or sister can return to playing. Newborn sessions are never rushed, and we don’t expect young children to sit still for long periods.

Once baby is settled, we move into the softly posed newborn portraits, pausing whenever needed for feeding, changing or soothing.

Every session unfolds a little differently, but the goal is always the same: a calm, intentional experience with plenty of time to capture this new season of your family.

Being an intentionally low volume Atlanta newborn photographer means my sessions aren’t timed. Especially for newborn session because babies move at their own pace.

Typically, from setup to me walking out of your door, it’s 2.5 – 3.5 hours. Most of my sessions run closer to 2.5 but I make myself available to give you time and space to feed, change, soothe and be with your new baby. We’re never rushed.

This is one of the most common concerns I hear — and truly, it’s okay.

Most homes don’t look “photo-ready” during the newborn stage, and they don’t need to. We’ll find the best natural light in your home, and I’m never afraid to move a few things around to create a clean, comfortable space. I also bring professional lighting when needed to ensure beautiful results.

Before your session, we’ll typically connect for a quick call or FaceTime so I can see your space, learn about your style and begin planning setups that coordinate naturally with your home.

That preparation allows me to arrive ready to create something thoughtful and cohesive — no perfectly styled home required.

It depends on so many factors. If your baby is really sleepy and calm and we don’t have siblings, the galleries are sometimes larger. If your baby is cluster feeding or won’t settle into poses easily, it may be smaller.

Typically, you can expect 25 – 45 images in a thoughtfully curated proofing gallery turned around, on average, in 2 – 3 weeks. From there you select the number of images you want precision edited based on collection choice or a la carte.

No. The session fee covers the time, preparation and expertise required to plan and photograph your newborn session, but it does not include digital images.

A typical newborn session involves 6–10 hours of work behind the scenes — from planning and preparing your styled setups, traveling to your home and photographing your baby at a calm, baby-led pace, to carefully curating and editing your images afterward.

After your session, you’ll receive a curated proofing gallery where you can select the images that speak to you most through the collection that best fits your family.

If you have questions about how the session fee and collections work together, I’m always happy to walk through the process with you.

Yes. I’m happy to offer flexible payment options when needed.

Many families choose to reserve their due date early in pregnancy, which allows plenty of time to spread payments out before your gallery is delivered. If a payment plan would be helpful for your family, just let me know and we can discuss options.

Yes. I photograph newborn and family sessions throughout the metro Atlanta area, and travel within the city and surrounding communities is included in your session fee.

If your home is more than about 45 minutes from Lilburn, a small travel fee may apply.

I regularly work with families in Snellville, Lawrenceville, Grayson, Tucker, Decatur, Peachtree Corners, Alpharetta, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell and Dunwoody, as well as nearby communities like Monroe and Athens.

If you’re unsure whether your location falls within my travel area, feel free to reach out.
