I’m asked all the time, “Do you offer mini sessions?” – around Mother’s Day and Christmas especially.
The draw is there – they are quick, back to back sessions, excellent for bringing in decent money quickly.
But y’all, it’s not me. It’s not my vibe – I’ve built my family and newborn photography business around intentionality and connection. Around getting to know your names and hearing your stories. Around trust rooted in our experiences together.

I’m not against mini sessions, they are the perfect fit for a lot of families and photographers.
But I want more for the mamas in my community, I want a space for them to feel seen and where they can be themselves.
So I started thinking, “how can I really imbue a mini session experience with meaning?”
And the solution: The Motherhood Gathering
I reached out to other local mama business owners about collaborating and offering a slow-paced, low-volume, micro-event where moms walking through similar seasons of life can actually connect. Where they can spend some time getting to know each other. Where they can create with their hands, share something to eat, read a book to their kids and just take a deep breath for a couple of hours.
The mommy and me photos are a part of this experience, not the center of it.
When I was dreaming up this event, I found myself reflecting on what I need a busy mom with two little kids. As a mom whose time is precious and someone who wants it to be well spent.
The answer: to make no fewer decisions and have more support.
I do the same with all my in-home newborn sessions and family sessions – think not just about the end product, the pretty pictures (although they are SO important and should be displayed all over your home!) but about the experience. You’ll remember the feeling of your session acutely as you look at framed photos or loved-on albums.
If you leave feeling stressed or can’t get past the overwhelm of having to make a million decisions before your photoshoot, those emotions will color everything.
So I’m very intentional about curating experiences that feel easy, like hanging out with a friend, that are calm and comfortable and authentic. No being “on” necessary. Not just another thing to hustle through.
And mom friends? Yes please. Why are they so hard to make, who has the time, don’t we all wish we didn’t feel so alone on our motherhood journey … but where do we find our people?
Hopefully this can be a little glimpse of that, a little starting off point to connect with other moms who are in the thick of it.
Two hours of space to just hang out, be yourself and meet other mamas.
Includes your mommy + me, Mother’s Day mini session images … BUT, they aren’t the focus of it all.
A bouquet bar will be available for you to create something beautiful with your little one.
Blankets in the sun to read books (that you get to take home) and have a treat provided by a local mom cottage baker.
It’s a sweet little collaboration by local mams, for local mamas who want their mini session to have more meaning and less rushing around.
… all with the goal of getting some numbers, seriously text each other afterwards!

Come make memories, take pictures and get to know a few mamas as well.
